Biography

Brian TillmanI was born and raised in Waco, Texas. I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1994, and studied law in New England. I earned my Juris Doctorate degree in 1998 from Vermont Law School. While studying there, I interned at the Vermont Supreme Court, under Justice John A. Dooley, III. This internship provided me with exposure to my first 4th Amendment criminal case, which was an omen of things to come. I passed the Vermont Bar, and practiced criminal law for nearly five years. Two of those years were spent gaining trial experience as a contract public defender for Franklin County. I gained admission to the United States District Court, District of Vermont, and became a member and board member of the Vermont Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. I also attended the 2002 Western Trial Advocacy Institute in Laramie, Wyoming. Despite New England's beauty, I returned home to Austin, and was admitted by the Texas Supreme Court in 2004. I am currently a member of the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, as well as the Austin Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, and the NORML Legal Committee. As always, my practice has remained almost exclusively limited to defending individuals against the state or federal government, and related matters. And I really like what I do.
